Hey guys, Dr. Jon Dandridge here and I want to go over a couple rules that are really, really important for anybody who’s been in a car accident and is seeking some type of care seeking help as a result of the consequences of that accident.
Car Accident Rules to Follow
Okay, there’s a couple rules that are very important in regards to you getting the care and help that you need. Number one, first and foremost, we, if you have insurance, car insurance in the state of Florida, you have what’s called personal injury protection coverage, at least $10,000. Okay. And the this is funds, that is a part of your plan as a part of your insurance policy that you can use to cover the cost of health care services, right to help get you where you need to be after being injured in a car accident. Okay, number one, very important, a lot of people don’t realize this. But this is a part of your plan, if you have car insurance in Florida. Number two, there’s a time window that is critical, right. So if you’ve been in a car accident, you have to go and start to seek care whether it’s from a hospital, a chiropractor, or whatever, you have to go and seek care within 14 days of the accident, we cannot go and seek care 1,2,3, or 4 years retroactively as a result of an accident that happened many years ago, the car insurance company will not accept that. So we have a 14 day window that we that we have that we can go and seek care and take advantage of those benefits that are a part of our policy as car insurance holders in the state of Florida.
Okay, so just to summarize again:
Number one
If you have car insurance policy in the state of Florida, you have at least $10,000 in personal injury protection coverages. This is these are funds that you can use to help cover services to for health care.
Number two
You have a 14 day window, you have to take action, okay? If you’ve been in a car accident, you have to go seek help within 14 days of that accident to use those benefits as a part of your policy.
