Scoliosis Chiropractor in Jacksonville, FL
Scoliosis is a spinal condition where the normal curvatures of the spine are distorted and essentially "buckle" creating a complex of improper curvatures that can range in severity and potentially create significant health issues. There are many different congenital bone anomalies, muscular, and neurologic conditions that we know with certainty create scoliosis but the majority of scoliosis cases are idiopathic, meaning the cause is unknown.
The ultimate risk that scoliosis poses on the body is that it can compromise normal cardiopulmonary function if the abnormal scoliotic curvatures progress too severely. Ideally the patient should have a plan in place before these vital functions are compromised to help stop the progression.
Our Approach To Scoliosis
As with all our patients, regardless of their condition, our objective is always to work towards improving the alignment of the spine and the function of the joints. This is no different in the case of scoliosis. In fact, it is even more important to care for and maintain the joints of the spine after it has been compromised. There are certain modifications we can make in order to ensure the adjusting stays comfortable and effective for the spine.
